Log Onto Computers And Research Water Rockets!

What variables are the MOST important variables to the objective? Draw in your Notebook.
What are your key factors?

You need your notebook and bottles, log on to your computer, and read each of the following;and
Thenwe will take a short break, go glue our notes into our notebook and then return to the reading/building our rockets to end the hour.
You have four days to design a rocket that will stay aloft for 5 seconds and return an egg unharmed after acollisionwith the earth's surface.

Build like the
wind all day! You should have at
least TWO launches by the end
of your science hour! (That should
give you enough data to fix
what is wrong and earn a grade Wednesday.)

Water Rockets!

Lesson
Monday 9/19/16 Objective- Newton's Laws. Test (launch) Wednesday

You need your bottles, tape, and notebook and at your lab desk, write at the top of the next unused page in your notebook- "Rocket Lab" and the following objective under the title:
"Design a rocket that will stay aloft for 5 seconds and return an egg unharmed after a collision with the earth's surface."

Then write your step by step procedure below the title and make a cross section drawing of your rocket, your rocket's flight path, and how your design will absorb the force of the impact.

Thursday 9/22/16 Objective- Newton's Laws. At your lab desk,
have out your Safety Contract and notebook. Complete them
silently as you wait for the "sub" to start. In your notebook, after
your rocket lab, write; "Galileo Notes". Record seven facts from
Galileo's presentation. When done we will wrap up the Safety Contract and complete your rocket lab. Both Safety Contract and notebook are due tomorrow, Friday.

If you havescissors, you need them now! Log on to your computer and then move to your new seat(s) at your lab desk, and finish gluing all the Newton handouts into your notebook, and any other sheet you may have missed! We will watchBill Nye Motion in 10 minutes. In your notebook record three observations from the movie. (Hint-Three laws of motionwouldbe a great start!)
The movie observations are your exit ticket!

Then we will watch Newton's Laws PPT on your computer.

Wednesdaywe will review Newton's Three Laws of Motion. In your notebook we will create a one paragraph summery of Issac Newton and list his three laws of motion- Following each law, give one application of each law in your life. (I will give a very brief overview of his life.)

Afterclicking here, label the earth at all four season with dates. Complete all questions in the presentation in your notebook.
